today while i was at work.i received a personal call from someone named shane watson,although his accent has a strong middle eastern or indian accent.he said hes calling about a debt that i owe few years ago from a payday loan company.he gave me all my information including my ssn and address.then i ask him whats the name of the company he represents..he said ARROWHEAD financial or something,then i asked him whos the original lender of the debt he said i owe but he refuses to tell me,he said they collect from alot of payday loan company and he cant tell which one of them.they i ask if he can send me a written proof of the debt before anything else,but he refuses,he said papers will be sent after i paid the debt.they i said i cant give money because he doesnt have a proof of that debt although he has all my info.they he got furious and starting to harrass me saying he will continue to call my place of work and tell my boss to fire me.
then he said tomorrow at the same time i need to fax him a letter saying that i want to settle the matter and write the date on when i will send the payment to western union.he said he need the fax letter from me by tomorrow or he will call my supervisors at work.
what wil i do? im not sure about this debt and im not just gonna give $500 to someone claiming hes something.but he has all my info.i have until tomorrow morning to do something.i know that if i send the fax saying i wanna settle it and it turns out to be a scam..it will useless anymore to go after it back since i gave him a letter saying i voluntarily sending money.
yes i do owe some payday loan before.
are they legit? should i just fax the letter and pay them? i really dont want them to call me at work.
